Choose one of the pictures to distribute to the children: Animals and a Cross Fireworks and a Picnic Frog and Alien Lady and Leprechaun Penguin and Mice Snake and Caterpillar Use full page or half page templates to print your story. You can do a cooperative project by having one student act as author and another as illustrator.Having a Picture Story Board for the author to give to the illustrator can help the process.I have put this together for my groups to practise creative writing for Paper 1 Question 5 on the new AQA English Language 8700 exam.

I have therefore left off the words narrative and descriptive here and simply used creative writing throughout - up to you which you want your students to practise - one or both. The four pictures are all taken from the internet: they are titled The lighthouse The log cabin The park at night The lake (at night) The idea of doing a quick 5 minute plan came from an AQA course I attended.
