Nursing schools use the HESI exams to make sure you can address academic deficiencies and avoid potential setbacks once you begin your core nursing coursework.
HESI specialty exams, feature tough questions that test your critical-thinking skills in the same way that board examinations did, so this means that you should already be familiar with these types of questions.
This section is all about thinking through the problem from all angles and determining what the best course of action would be as if you were a certified nurse.
This portion will not be included in the overall test score it’s more for gauging your thought process regarding the daily activities a nurse encounters on a regular basis.
NOTE: It is important to take the HESI exam prior to completing your nursing application and after any necessary courses in math, reading or writing have been completed.
The HESI exam can be taken at any number of testing centers across the country.
Be on the lookout for an email within seven days that will provide your test results and an online individualized remediation plan that will be available through your online account.
Taking advantage of the online remediation plan is recommended by nursing schools in order to guarantee a more successful outcome the following time you take the test.
No electronics are allowed in the testing room so those will have to be left at home.
The testing center will provide a calculator and scratch paper for your convenience while taking the test.
